The ECM NOxCAN, Type G Module (NOxCANg) is a versatile and highly integratable NOx, Lambda, and O2 measurement module for the development of diesel engines and combustion systems that can operate lean of stoichiometric, and their aftertreatment systems. The NOxCANg uses a ceramic NOx sensor (Type G) that is mounted in the exhaust of the engine and communicates measured NOx, Lambda, O2, and all sensor parameters via its CAN port. NOxCANg is suitable for engines and combustion systems that operator lean of stoichiometric (i.e. Lambdas greater than 1). Most diesel engines and gas turbine engines fall into this category. The Type G sensor has a 1:0.67 cross-sensitivity to NH3 (1 ppm NH3 looks like 0.67 ppm NOx to the sensor). This cross-sensitivity is also affected by O2 concentration. The Type G sensor is recommended when NOx ppm is 10 ppm or less and the exhaust is lean of stoichiometric. Although designed as a measurement tool, the NOxCANg can be easily integrated into an engine or aftertreatment control strategy. The CAN node identification can be programmed by the user allowing multiple NOx modules on the same bus. Fuel H:C, O:C, and N:C ratios can be programmed. NOx sensors used with the module have memory chips in their connector where calibration information is stored. This allows the sensors to be recalibrated (Zero, Span) in a central location and distributed to users, ensuring consistent results throughout a large test facility. PC software to set-up, control, calibrate, and view outputs and sensor parameters is included (requires CAN adapter, not included). Three optional displays, two with programmable analog outputs, are available. These displays can be used with one or two modules.
