ECM’s miniPEMS 2 is an inexpensive, but versatile instrumentation package for the auditing of combustion engine emissions. A key feature of miniPEMS™ is the use of ceramic exhaust emissions sensors, a technology pioneered by ECM. Ceramic exhaust sensors are smaller, more rugged, and faster responding than classical gas analyzers.
miniPEMS 2 is available in base and expanded configurations. The base configuration measures GPS positioning, NOx, O2, Lambda, and four temperatures. Data is logged onto removable memory cards. Expanded configurations add vehicle data stream information, measurements of other emissions gases, voltages, currents, temperatures, pressures, frequencies, and duty cycles. This expandability supports deeper analysis of suspect systems.
System setup, calibration, data uploading, and real-time monitoring are handled by ECM’s Configuration Tool software. Exported data files are in .csv format for easy importation into data analysis programs such as Microsoft Excel.
miniPEMS 2 comes in a rugged, suitcase-like enclosure that can easily fit in the trunk of larger vehicles. Up to seven modules can be installed in miniPEMS 2. Four lithium batteries provides hours of use independent of the vehicle’s electrical system.
At a fraction of the cost of conventional pollution emissions monitoring systems, yet vastly more compact and rugged, ECM’s miniPEMS 2 meets the needs of manufacturer and legislative agencies for the monitoring of real-world emissions.
