The ECM NOxCAN, Type F Module (NOxCANf) is a versatile NOx, Lambda, and O2 measurement module for the development of all engines, combustion systems, and their aftertreatment systems. The NOxCANf uses a ceramic NOx sensor (Type F) that is mounted in the tailpipe of the engine and communicates measured NOx, Lambda, O2, and all sensor parameters via its CAN port. The NOx Type F sensor is basically a Type T sensor with a NH3 absorbing filter which eliminates the sensor’s cross-sensitivity to NH3. Limitations of the Type F sensors are that maximum gas temperature is 210°C and a filter lifetime as short as thirty minutes (at which time the filter has to be replaced). The low maximum exhaust temperature limits the NOxCANf to tailpipe applications. The CAN node identification can be programmed by the user allowing multiple NOx modules on the same bus. Fuel H:C, O:C, and N:C ratios can be programmed. NOx sensors used with the module have memory chips in their connector where calibration information is stored. This allows the sensors to be recalibrated (Zero, Span) in a central location and distributed to users, ensuring consistent results throughout a large test facility. PC software to set-up, control, calibrate, and view outputs and sensor parameters is included (requires CAN adapter, not included). Three optional displays, two with programmable analog outputs, are available. These displays can be used with one or two modules.
